Peruvian Torch Cactus: A mescaline cactus with psychedelic effect

This fast-growing, columnar cactus is native to the Andes in Peru. It is bluish-green in colour and grows 6-9 rounded ribs with large, white flowers. People use the Peruvian Torch Cactus for its mescaline properties. Spiritual healers use this product to become one with the natural universe; they go on journeys looking for direction and answers. Many people experience psychedelic effects including hallucinations and auditory alterations. Vomiting is considered a part of the cleansing process, so be aware that this could happen and try to avoid eating 6 hours before consumption. This should help alleviate some of the nausea and result in better absorption of the mescaline.

CULTIVATION

• Place in small pot or directly into ground.
• While cuttings are establishing a root system, protect against extreme light and heat.
• Reintroduce to more direct light when new growth emerges.
• 5 hours directs light with several hours indirect light is a guideline.

Soil Tips:
• Well draining: should hold enough moisture for a week without drying out.
• High nitrogen soil can cause root rot.

Watering:
• Keep soil moist with short drying-out periods
• Watering should be stopped or limited during dormant months of winter.

DOSAGE

When harvesting for mescaline, each dose should last 6-12 hours. Usage should be one small piece for a light to moderate experience (15-25cm), and a strong trip would be a larger piece (25-35cm).

Wait 60-90 minutes for effects, and it should peak around 2-2.5 hours. You can eat the meat of the plant directly, but the taste can be unpleasant. Drying the plant and grinding it into a powder is usually a better solution. It is easy to then add the power to a drink.
