The Bolivian Torch cactus has a light green to bluish colour and typically produces 4-8 ribs. It can grow 2-5m tall and has stems 15-20cm in diameter. This particular cactus grows evenly, where the ribs and stems develop a 2.5-3cm spread.

The Bolivian Torch Cactus is particularly hardy; it is extremely drought tolerant and resistant to mould when receiving the proper amount of water from time to time. It has few problems when transplanting and is a fast-growing plant.

CULTIVATION

Water on a regular basis, depending on how quickly the soil dries. Watch for drainage around the plant; it doesn’t need to be soggy, but it shouldn’t be cracked and dry for over a couple of days.

Soil mixture is also important because a cactus’ needs are different than many other plants in a garden. Use a special cactus soil or mix your current soil with course sand, pumice, and cactus nutrients. This particular plant can grow well in poor soil.

Bolivian Torch Cactus (Echinopsis lageniformis) can take full sun for most of the day, but it should have partial shade at some points. It does have some frost resistance, but if you live in a place where it gets extremely cold in the winter, you might want to consider growing in pots, so the cactus can be moved indoors when needed.

DOSAGE

Because this cactus is more potent than others, be aware of the dosage. 0.3-0.4 grams of mescaline can put you into outerspace, so please start with a small amount and increase from there. It takes approximately 45 minutes to have an effect and peaks around 2 hours. Also, be aware when using this, vomiting is part of the process. Do not be alarmed if you see dinner again before beginning your trip. It is suggested not to eat anything 6 hours before ingesting.

The flesh of the cactus can be bitter and unpleasant. If you do not want to eat the meat of the cactus directly, dry and grind the plant into a powder and add it to a drink.
